South Africa will host the fourth edition of the Champions League Twenty20 in October 2012, the decision to shift the tournament out of India this season was taken at a CLT20 Governing Council meeting in Chennai last month.
"South Africa will host CLT20 this year,” Sundar Raman, a member of the CLT20's technical committee, tweeted.
This will be the second time that South Africa will hosting the tournament after 2010. Cape Town, Johannesburg, Centurion and Durban have been selected as venues for this year’s extravaganza. IPL team Mumbai Indians has been included as the fourth Indian team in the eight-team tournament while Pakistan's domestic champions Sialkot Stallions will be the new entrant in this year’s event.
Teams which have made it to, at least to the qualifying stage of the tournament, are: Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians (all four from IPL), Auckland Aces (from New Zealand), Trinidad & Tobago (from West Indies), Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers (both from Australia's Big Bash League), Titans, Lions (both from South Africa).
IPL’s Mumbai Indians are the reigning champions of Champions League T20, beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 31 runs in the final of the third edition. The representatives from Sri Lanka and England will be decided after next month's Sri Lanka Premier League and the ongoing Friends Life T20.
