Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Kicks off

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 started its five-day long fashion event at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on October 8. The event started on a good note with the lively and pulsating collection and many new trends and designs. The Day one started with the collections from female designers like Gauri-Nainika, Nandita Basu and Malini Ramani.

In an interview to a TV channel, Mr. Sunil Sethi, the president of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) said, “143 stalls spread in 13500 sq mts, 77 designers taking part, three of india’s best restaurants serving and more than 200 buyers are present on the opening day. Look at the buzz and the placing of the orders and the best part of it is the creativity of the Indian designers.”

Designer-sister duo Gauri-Nainika kickstarted the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 edition and showcased their collection featuring simple dresses, pleated skirts, jumpsuits and long flowing silhouettes and the metallic buttons used in them were the highlight of the show.

The next to follow was designer Nandita Basu. Her collection was mix of hot pants, off-shoulder tops and short dresses. Malini Ramani too kept to her signature style by showcasing her signature style halter backs, bold cuts and large slit flood the runway.

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal in his creme blazer and rugged jeans, Kalki Koechlin in a silver halter gown and Prateik Babbar in an unbuttoned white shirt were present at the opening show. Kalki and Prateik walked the ramp for designer Rina Dhaka on Day One of the fashion week.
