Devi Prasad will read an excerpt from his book "Gandhi And Revolution" during a book launch party at 7 pm today at India Habitat Centre (IHC), New Delhi. The book launch will be followed by a discussion with panelists — Mukul Kesavan, writer and lecturer department of History, Jamia Millia Islamia, Suresh Sharma, historian and anthropologist and Ananya Vajpayi, writer.
This book is a collection of Devi Prasad’s essays on Gandhi, his social justice and social changes. It address themes ranging from Gandhi’s ideals of Satyagraha, civil disobedience and non-violence, to the Gandhian approach to education as founded in making and crafting as well as participation in the political and social movements. It also engage the revolutionary potential of Gandhi’s thought, drawing parallels between Lenin and Gandhi and analyzing the historical significance of Gandhi’s anti-imperialist yet non-violent political philosophy. In nutshell, the volume dwells on the continuing, critical relevance of Gandhi in the modern times.
