Month-long 'Kashmir School Stamp' Begins in Srinagar

A month-long 'Kashmir school stamp' show started in a school in Srinagar, Kashmir from May 2-31, 2012. The festival was inaugurated by Chief Post Master General (CPMG), J&K Circle John Samuel.

This is a unique initiative launched by Department of Posts (DOP) to encourage the school students to take the hobby of stamp collection.

Last year after a gap of 32 years a major stamp exhibition was organized at SKICC under title 'Chinar-2011.' School Stamp Show-2012 is a sequel to Chinar-2011 and will focus on school children in Kashmir.

Mr Samuel at the launch of show announced that this exhibition will be held at more than 12 schools during this month.

A large number of school children have shown interest in Philately, he said, adding that in order to help them, as a part of Stamp Show Philately workshops will be organized in each school. During the Philately workshop the students will learn the basics of Stamp Collection.
