Current pop princess Rihanna is the girl to beat, with six nominations while Taylor Swift isn't far behind with five. Swift and Rihanna will battle each other in three categories: Best Female, Best Pop and Best Look.
Other notable nominees include Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey with three nods, while Green Day, Rita Ora and Pitbull have two each.
MTV will announce EMA performers and presenters at a later date.
