Euro 2012: England to Play France on June 11

England’s first match of Euro 2012 is just a day away as Roy Hodgson’s men get ready to meet France on Monday evening (June 11, 2012) from 5 pm at Donetsk, Ukraine in what should be a very tight match between two European giants.

Consecutive friendly victories have given the England camp a lift ahead of their Euro 2012 opener against France, says Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young.

The Manchester United midfielder has said that the approach shown by England in their 1–0 victories over Norway in Oslo and Belgium at Wembley has given the team cause for confidence ahead of the tournament.

Going into the clash between England and France, it is the latter that are the favorites for victory. Their form since the disastrous 2010 World Cup has been good and Laurent Blanc’s men can be backed at 6/4 to beat England.

The Three Lions are by no means being ruled out though. They have won both games under Roy Hodgson so far and certainly have the ability to beat France.

It is France that could have a lot of the attacking play early on with their sense of freedom under Blanc at the moment, while England may well be content to stand firm and hit the French on the counter attack.

However it pans out, this should be a fascinating contest and certainly one of the picks from the first round of fixtures.
