Manchester City Wins EPL 2012

The 2011-12 Barclay's English Premier League came to a nail-biting end with Manchester City winning it on goal difference from their arch-rivals Manchester United after beating QPR 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England on May 13, 2012.

Manchester City scored twice in stoppage-time with Edin Dzeko (90+2′) and Kun Agüero (90+4’) to give the Citizens’ the English title for the first time in 44 years. Pablo Zabaleta had put City on course with a 39th-minute goal, but Djibril Cisse evened for QPR three minutes into the second half. City had a man advantage after QPR captain Joey Barton was sent off for an elbow on Carlos Tevez, but Jamie Mackie managed to put the visitors in front with a header setting-up the match for a dramatic finish.

Both the Manchester clubs, City and United, finished the season on 89 points each. This is first time in the history of Barclay’s English Premier league that the title has been decided on goal difference.
