A wide variety of choral music will be featured on the program when the Concert Choir at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) performs in its fall concert at 7 pm on Nov. 8, 2011 in Howard Auditorium on the ABAC campus, Tifton, Georgia, United States.
The concert is open to the public at no charge.
Susan Roe, professor of voice, directs the 86-member choir. She said the group includes students from all over the southeastern part of the United States. Marjorie Fix is the piano accompanist for the group.
The choir’s selections for the evening will begin with “The Star Spangled Banner” arranged by John Stafford Smith, followed by “Gloria in Excelsis De” by Jay Althouse. The next piece, “Heart We Will Forget Him” by Victor C. Johnson, will be sung by the sopranos and altos accompanied by Fix and Betsy Sone Jones on the cello. The tenors and basses will then present “The Awakening” by Joseph M. Martin.
The ABAC Jazz Choir will perform two Cole Porter pieces, “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To” and “You’re The Top,” followed by the ABAC Chamber Singers who will perform “There Is Faint Music” by Dan Forrest and “Prayer of The Children” by Andrea S. Klouse.

An American spiritual, “On My Way To Jordan,” arranged by Jay Althouse, the traditional spiritual “I’ve Been in the Storm So Long,” arranged by Mark Hayes, and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” by Peter M. Wilhousky will be sung by the entire Concert Choir to conclude the evening’s performance.
