English singer Adele was the biggest winner at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on May 20, 2012 taking home 12 awards of her 18 nominations.
American electro pop duo LMFAO were the second top winners, grabbing six honors, with their hit-song ‘Party Rock Anthem’ giving them five awards. The night kicked off with a medley by LMFAO, other performers on the night included Katy Perry, Cee Lo Green, Linkin Park, The Wanted, Usher and Chris Brown.
Recently deceased singer Whitney Houston was honored with the Millennium award. Coldplay and Lil Wayne received four awards each, while Casting Crowns, Jason Aldean and Lady Gaga each won two awards.
Justin Bieber took home ‘Top Social Artist’ honors, Taylor Swift grabbed ‘Woman of the Year’ and while Stevie Wonder was honored with the Billboard Icon Award.
The 2012 Billboard Music Awards also paid tribute to late singers Donna Summer, Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch and Bee Gees vocalist Robin Gibb.
