Sonia Gandhi to Become 2nd Woman to Address AMU Convocation

EFT Report, Aligarh: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will deliver the convocation address at the Aligarh Muslim University on Feb. 16, 2013 becoming the second woman to do so -- 87 years after the first.

The announcement was made after a meeting, presided over by AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Zameeruddin Shah to discuss various issues for the annual convocation.

The first woman to deliver the convocation address of the university was its first chancellor, Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum of Bhopal, on Jan. 26, 1925.
