Murray Wins US Open 2012; First Brit in 76 Years

Britain’s Andy Murray “finally” opened his grand slam account after beating 2011 winner Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 7-6 (12/10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 in an epic five-setter to win the US Open 2012 at Flushing Meadows on Sept 10, 2012. The final lasted 4 hours, 54 minutes, tying the record for longest US Open final.

The 25-year-old Olympic gold medalist became the first male Brit in 76 years to win a Grand Slam after Fred Perry, who won same event in 1936.
