Kevin Pietersen Out of England's World T20 Squad

Controversial batsman Kevin Pietersen was left out of England’s World Twenty20 squad announced on August 21, 2012. The 32-year-old South Africa-born batsman was the man of the tournament when England won the 2010 World T20 in the Caribbean.

Pietersen was dropped for the final Test against South Africa in the recently concluded series where England lost their World Test No. 1 status after admitting sending "provocative" text messages to members of the opposition. The World T20 starts in Sri Lanka next month, with England beginning the defence of their title against Afghanistan on September 21.

England World Twenty20 squad: Stuart Broad (captain), Jonathan Bairstow, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter (wkt), Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright.
