Howrah Rajdhani to Get Wi-Fi Connectivity From Sept. 25

Indian Railways has announced a pilot project of providing internet facility using Wi-Fi in three rakes of the Howrah Rajdhani Express by September 2012.

It is a satellite-based system using a Wi-Fi for distribution of internet bandwidth in coaches and the likely date for implementation of this system is September 25, 2012.

The estimated implementation cost of the project is Rs 6.30 crore.

In terms of functioning, passengers will have to make a requisition to the traveling ticket examiner to access the Internet. The examiner will send the requisition to the central hub and a password will be sent through SMS to the passenger’s mobile phone.
