IRCTC Launches Heritage Train for Kalka-Shimla Route

In order to woo more tourists, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a special heritage train consisting of saloon coaches of yesteryears in the picturesque Kalka-Shimla route.

The 46-year-old Shivalik Palace coach and the 38 year-old Shivalik Queen coach have been rebuilt to be made a part of the six-coach heritage train, said a senior official of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

"We have tried to make the one-way tariff reasonably attractive at Rs 2,600 per person per seat for the Shivalik coaches and Rs 2,200 for travelling in other four coaches.

The tariff includes traditional welcome drink at the originating station and non-alcoholic beverages, snack and lunch on board.
