West Bengal to Develop Seven Health Districts by 2012

The West Bengal Government will develop seven new districts for the improvement of health services in the state.

These districts are Bankura, Bishnupur, South 24 Parganas, Diamond Harbour, North 24 Parganas, Basirhat, West Midnapur, Jhargram, Burdwan, Assansole, Birbhum, Rampurhat, East Midnapur and Nandigram.

Moreover, 27 new super specialty hospitals will be constructed in 11 districts at a cost 2 thousand crore rupees.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Dec. 24, 2011 the creation of seven new health districts in the state to be operational by 2012.
