Kolkata: Workshop on Stem Cell Therapy Kicks off

Cancer specialists from India and abroad will attend the workshop on Stem Cell Therapy, which is organized by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cancer Research Institute in Kolkata.

Its organizing secretary Ashis Mukhopadhyay, who is medical director of the institute, said that the main focus would be advances of bone marrow stem cell transplantation, umbilical cord blood stem cell transplantation in hematology and other malignancies, bone marrow registry, besides advances in stem cell research in other forms of cancer.

Indian Council of Medical Research D-G V M Katoch, noted cancer expert and one of the pioneers of stem cell transplant John Goldman from Imperial college, London, and cancer specialists from Tata Memorial hospital, Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital and Cancer Centre Welfare Home are expected to attend the workshop being held in collaboration with Department of science and technology.
