Man City’s Yaya Toure Named African Footballer of the Year

Ivory Coast's Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure was named African Footballer of the Year for the second consecutive year running beating his national team mate Didier Drogba at the African Football gala in Accra, Ghana.

The 29-year-old, who joined Manchester City from Barcelona FC in 2010, played a key role in helping Citizens’ win the Barclays Premier League 2011-12 season and was part of the Ivory Coast national team that reached the African Cup of Nations final.

Shanghai Shenhua’s Didier Drogba came second while Barcelona FC midfielder Alex Song, who left Arsenal FC in the summer, was placed third.
