Freddie Flintoff Wins Debut Professional Boxing Fight

Defying all his critics, former England cricket star Freddie Flintoff won his first professional boxing bout beating American Richard Dawson in the much-hype fight at the Manchester Arena, England on November 30, 2012.

The 34-year-old, who was trained by Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan, won the fight by the narrowest of margins 39-38 despite being sent down to the canvas by his much younger 23-year-old American opponent in the second round.

The former England captain had come under lots of criticism before the fight with many calling it a publicity stunt.
