American Music Awards: Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj Win Big

The 40th edition of American Music Awards (AMAs) took place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 18, 2012. Teen pop idol Justin Bieber wins big at AMAs with three trophies.

Bieber bagged the ‘Artist of the year,’ ‘Pop/rock male artist’ and the ‘Pop/rock album’ awards for his hit soundtrack ‘Believe.’

Following up with two wins was rapper Nicki Minaj who picked up the ‘Rap/hip-hop artist’ and ‘Rap/hip-hop album’ award for her album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’. David Guetta won the show's first-ever electronic dance music award, while Taylor Swift won her fifth consecutive award for ‘Favorite Country Female Artist’.

Other big winners included Linkin Park, Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen, Usher and Katy Perry amongst others.

The ceremony was marked by performances of artistes including Usher, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Pink and Pitbull.
