Bangalore to Host Commodity Seminar on Aug. 18

A stakeholder awareness and education seminar on agri business and commodity markets to discuss scientific management of price risks in the volatile agricultural markets will be held in Bangalore on Saturday, August 18, 2012.

The events are part of an ongoing series organized by Business Line jointly with Forward Markets Commission (FMC), the commodities futures market regulator under the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs and the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the country’s largest agricultural futures bourse.

In Bangalore, the seminar will start at 4.30 pm at ITC Gardenia, 1 Residency Road, where GK Vasantha Kumar, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, will be the chief guest. Guests of Honour include M. Mathisekaran, Member, Forward Markets Commission, and K Shiva Shanmugam, President, FKCCI.

Expert presentations at the venues include: ‘Commodities as critical driver of India’s economic growth’ by G. Chandrashekhar, The Hindu Business Line; and ‘Commodity futures trading for price discovery and price risk management’ by V.B. Prem Kumar, Vice-President, NCDEX, and Aashish Argade, Manager, NCDEX. K. Lakshmisha, General Manager, State Bank of Mysore, will speak on role of banks in promoting commodity markets.
