Arsenal FC to Sell Robin van Persie to Man Utd for £24m

The biggest transfer saga of the English Premier League 2012-13 season comes to an end after Arsenal FC confirmed that terms have been agreed with arch rivals Manchester United for the transfer of their star-striker Robin van Persie.

Van Persie, who did not renew his contract at the Emirates Stadium, is reportedly due to sign a 4-year deal at Old Trafford for a fee of £24 million (over £200,000 a week). United have beaten Manchester City and Juventus for Van Persie’s signature and the 29-year-old Dutch international will have a medical at Old Trafford on August 16, 2012.

Van Persie, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season, is the first Arsenal player to join United since Viv Anderson in 1987.

"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin van Persie," the Old Trafford side declared on their official website.
