Peter Jackson’s 'The Hobbit' to be a Trilogy

The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson much anticipated adaptation of JRR Tolkien's book “The Hobbit” will now be made into three parts.

The New Zealand film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter said after reviewing footage he has already shot he believes there is enough to support a third.

The first film in the trilogy, 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' will hit theaters on December 14, 2012, with the second film on December 13, 2013, and the third film is slated for summer 2014.
