Railway minister Mukul Roy inaugurated Metro Rake Rehabilitation Workshop at Noapara near Dum Dum, Kolkata, on the outskirts of the city.
"The workshop, built at a cost of more than Rs 76 crore, will repair and rehabilitate seven trains of Metro railway," Roy said.
The stone laying ceremony for the workshop was done by the then Railway minister and present Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2010.
The workshop would repair the partly damaged and old trains of Kolkata Metro.
Roy also said that the other Metro railway projects being undertaken in and around the city would be completed in time.
