The Virgin London Marathon 2012 is all set to kick off on Sunday, April 22, 2012 that is scheduled to start at 9.45 am in Greenwich. More than 35,000 runners will start from Greenwich Park and Blackheath from one of three different start points, completing the 26.2 mile race at The Mall.
The London Marathon is 26 miles and 385 yards in distance and holds the Guinness world record as the largest annual fundraising event in the world.
Founded by the former Olympic champion Chris Brasher and the Welsh athlete John Disley, the London Marathon is one of the largest running events in the world. Since it began in 1981, the London Marathon has taken place in the capital every spring and this year's race is the 32nd London Marathon to take place.
