Gulmarg Winter Festival 2012 to Begin From March 9–11

The picturesque land of Indian Kashmir is all set to host the annual Gulmarg Winter Festival 2012 from March 9–11, 2012. The three-day festival is organized by Soul Curators and supported by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism.

The aim of Gulmarg Winter Festival 2012 is to promote peace, encourage responsible tourism and bring people closer to nature and use eco-friendly products.

This musical festival will provide a platform to the budding talent from across India to showcase their skills in music, performing arts, films and alternative sports.

Be it classical, soul, jazz, rock or fusion — artists of various genres like Raghu Dixit, Rishi Inc., Half Step Down, Traveling Blues and Hashback Hashish will perform as part of the extravaganza, which will also see participation of local people displaying their handicrafts skill.

It will also have winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-biking through exhibits and competitions.

A short film fest by the name of Soul Film Festival will also be held to showcase a select collection of short films by budding filmmakers.

The Gulmarg Winter Festival aims to be a zero plastic event. Also, the lights at the festival will be powered by renewable sources of energy, using minimum power.
