Jamia to Confer Honorary Degree to UN Chief on April 27

Delhi's premier university, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will confer an honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The University will hold a special convocation on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11 am to confer the Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) on Ban Ki-moon, the eighth and current secretary general to United Nations.

Ban Ki-moon who has been a career diplomat, in 2011 ran unopposed for a second term as secretary general and was unanimously re-elected to the post by the General Assembly.

He will continue to serve in his current position till December 2016.

Lieutenant general (Retired) MA Zaki, chancellor, JMI, will confer the degree to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, while Najeeb Jung, vice chancellor, JMI, will present him with a citation.
