Manipur Denizens Celebrate Sajibu Cheiraoba Panba Cheiraoba

Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba was celebrated with pomp and gaiety. The festival is observed on the first day of the Manipuri calendar. Vegetables, eatables are offered to Gods, Goddesses and ancestors.

Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said, 'Sajibu Nongma Panba marks the end of the Previous Year and the onset of the New Year. On this auspicious day, youngsters seek the blessings of elders for a happy long life."

Gifts were presented to elders of parental home by married women on the occasion.
Cultural events, competitions were organised in galore. After the grand feasts people climbed Cheiraoching a small hillock in Imphal.
