Chinese engineers have developed a high-speed train that can withstand temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. A prototype of the train was developed by China CNR Corp. Ltd., China's second largest train maker.
The components and the control system of the train must pass all necessary tests under an ultra-low temperature environment before putting into operation, said Li, who is also a member of the CPPCC National Committee.
If the train passes the tests, it is expected to debut in the Harbin-Dalian route in northeast China at the end of this year, Li said.
