Big Texas Beer Fest 2012 on April 14

The Big Texas Beer Fest, coming to Dallas on April 14, 2012 offers more confirmation of Dallas' lively craft beer scene, with 80–100 breweries with 300-plus beers from all over the world.

The festival will focus on the emerging Texas craft beer scene, says organizer Chad Montgomery, and a number of Texas breweries have already promised exclusive kegs.

"There will be rare tappings, and a whole draft wall with unusual stuff," he says. "Some of the beers will be at the brewers’ booths."

"With rare beers, brewers don’t even know if they’ll be ready until about a week before the event, so we don’t release a beer list until three days before," he says. "I can tell you that Deep Ellum will have more than one special beer for us not anywhere else. So will Rahr and Jester King, and maybe some others."

Montgomery got the beer bug after visiting the country's biggest beer festival in Denver.

In addition to world-class beers, the festival will also feature local food trucks and artisan cheese from MouCo Cheese Company. Local bands The O's and Fish Fry Bingo will also perform.

General Admission tickets are on sale now at www.bigtexasbeerfest.com for $35, alongside $20 tickets for designated drivers who get access to all the festival has to offer, except for the beers of course.

Festival hours are 1–6 pm, but patrons purchasing VIP tickets will be allowed in beginning at noon and are also invited to an after party at Dallas’ first craft beer brewery, Deep Ellum Brewing Company. Tickets will be available at the door, but the price increases to $50.
