Priya Village Roadshow (PVR) Ltd., India’s leading retail entertainment company, launched its first multiplex in Kolkata at Avani Riverside Mall, Howrah on February 9, 2012. Indian actor Rahul Bose inaugurated the multiplex.
PVR Avani has 4 screens with 1186 seats and will provide an exceptional digital movie experience to the cine-goers of the city. This is the first-ever PVR multiplex launch in East India, spreading its footprint at the doorsteps of Kolkata through Howrah.
The company also plans to open 70 more screens across India and invest Rs 120 crore by next financial year. With the launch in Howrah, the PVR has 162 screens in 37 cities across India. The company began its commercial operations in June 1997 with the launch of PVR Anupam in Saket in south Delhi.
The opening of this multiplex is part of the company's organic growth strategy of pan India expansion and increasing its presence in major cities. Audiences in East India will enjoy to a new cinematic wave the PVR theatres offer.
