Polling for Uttar Pradesh 3rd Phase Begins

Polling for the third phase of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh's staggered elections in 56 assembly seats began on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at 7 am.

The total number of candidates in this phase is 1018, of whom women candidates number 77.

The political parties contesting in this phase are Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Samajwadi Party and others.

The number of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) being used in this phase is 52602, while the total number of polling stations is 18374.

The total number of voters is 1,77,91,893.
