German Orchestra Babelsberg to Play Rahman’s Music During India Tour

The German symphony orchestra “Babelsberg” is all set to play music composed by AR Rahman in an upcoming five-city tour of India. The concert will debut in Mumbai on January 20, 2012 and will subsequently travel to Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore till Jan. 29, creating a new highpoint for music lovers across the nation.

The tour coincides with the celebration of the centenary year of Studio Babelsberg, the world's oldest film studio in Germany, and Indian Cinema that were incepted in 1912.

Singers from AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, Chennai as well as prominent soloists will join the orchestra for performances in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. The music will be arranged and composed by London-based composer Matt Dunkley (who has been a conductor and orchestrator for films like Black Swan, Moulin Rouge, The Dark Knight and Inception to name a few). The tour is being presented by Lapp India with inputs from the Goethe Institut and Max Mueller Bhavan.
