Pune: National Sports Festival for Tribal’s From Dec. 27

The 6th edition of National Sports Festival for tribals will be held in Pune from December 27, 2011 to January 1, 2012. Over 2,700 participants from India, Nepal and Bhutan are expected to participate in the sports festival.

Christened Ekalavya Khelkood-2011, the main competitions will include track and field events, archery, marathon and football. A colorful procession, comprising 25,000 tribals from different states will be taken out on December 29.

The six-day festival, which is estimated to cost around Rs 10 million, will also be participated in by 900 tribal girls. The festival in the past has been held in Mumbai, Indore, Udaipur, Ranchi and Amravati.
