Kolkata’s First Polo International Tournament Kicks off

Calcutta Polo Club's first international polo tournament, BFL Ezra World Cup, kicked off at the Pat Williamson Grounds, Calcutta Race Course, Kolkata on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011. The club commenced its 150th year celebration with Ezra WC.

The historical event would witness host of international stars, including living Polo legend Carlos Gracida and top players Santiago Buzzi, Gabriel Nicolas Kurta, George Meurick and others.

The five participating teams include three international teams from USA, Italy and Indonesia. The teams are Calcutta Polo Club (Kolkata), Army Polo and Riding Club (New Delhi), Nusantara (Indonesia), Carnoustie (US) and Rome (Italy).

Ezra Cups is one of the oldest polo tournaments, named after David Ezra was introduced in 1880.

The final match of the tournament will be held on December 25.
