To pay tribute to the legendary Indian dancer Uday Shankar on his 111th birth anniversary, a seven-day dance festival was inaugurated at Rabindra Sadan, Circus Avenue, Kolkata on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011.
The Uday Shankar Dance Festival will have 52 colorful dance offerings from various States of India to pay homage to the legendary choreographer.
The dance carnival includes Indian classical dance forms like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kuchipudi with artists coming from different parts of the country to perform.
