Tripura University will confer an honorary doctorate on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her maiden visit to this northeastern Indian state on Jan 12, 2012.
Sheikh Hasina and Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari have already given their consent to attend the Tripura Central University's ninth convocation on Jan 12.
This will be the first visit of any Bangladeshi prime minister to northeast India.
