Delhi: Indian Languages Festival Kicks off at IHC; Check out the Video

A festival of Indian languages, Samanvay — IHC Bhartiya Bhasha Mahotsav, will kick start at Indian Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi from Dec. 16–18, 2011. More than 60 writers, representing 13 Indian languages, are expected to take part in 10 sessions during the festival.

Inaugural session

4 pm–6 pm: Is There An Indian Literature

6.30 pm: Concert by Madan Gopal Singh based on the poems of renowned Hindi and Maithili poet Nagarjun

December 17:

10.45 am–12 noon: ASSAMESE — New Challenges for Women Writers

12.15 pm –1.30 pm: PUNJABI — Dalit Love Poetry

2.45 pm–4 pm: MALAYALAM — Autobiographies From the Margins

4.15 pm–5.30 pm: URDU — The Death of Mushayara

6 pm: Assamese folk music

December 18:


10.45 am–12 noon: TAMIL — Women Writing the Body

12.15 pm –1.30 pm: HINDI — Searching for Readers in the 21st Century

2.45 pm–4 pm: BENGALI— Poetry and the Popular

4.15 pm–5.30 pm: ENGLISH — Indian English Writing: Beyond Fiction

Entry is free and seating on first-come first-served basis.
