The United Nations (UN) is organizing a two-day multilateral consultative workshop from Nov. 15-16, 2011 to review the status of Human Rights in Pakistan.
Key objectives of the workshop will be to enhance and strengthen understanding of United Nations’ frameworks and commitments on human rights and to discuss steps for analysis of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and related obligations.
The participants will also talk about the ways to create space for the voice and documentation of civil society perspective on UPR and device a collaborative way forward and methodology for UPR process.
The UN system in Pakistan is committed to assisting Ministry of Human Rights, in implementing and strengthening the human rights framework as well as in particular around the follow up to the UPR observations from 2008.
