Italian Film Festival Kicks off in Philippines From Nov. 9-13

The Italian Embassy in Philippines rolls out the red carpet to celebrate the 10th edition of the 2011 Italian Film Festival. The five-day festival MovieMov: Italian Cinema Now, which will run from November 9 to 13, will be held at the Greenbelt Cinemas in Makati.

Around 600 guests have been invited for the opening night of the annual Italian Film Festival, which pays tribute to three internationally acclaimed directors: Bernardo Bertolucci, Dario Argento and Brillante Mendoza.

Three movies will be screened on opening night. They are Habemus Papam (We Have a Pope), directed by Nanni Moretti, Serbis by Brillante Mendoza, and a 20-minute clip of Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D, the full film of which will be released next year.

Apart from film screenings, the festival will also conduct various round-table discussions with Italian and Filipino filmmakers for the exchange of ideas and concepts in making films, ensuring future collaborations and lasting partnerships.

Two workshops by Mr. Argento and award-winning composer Franco Piersanti will be conducted as well, and will be open to the public for free.
