Homeless Aid Event in Las Vegas Attracts Thousands

Thousands of homeless people attended a Project Homeless Connect aid event at Cashman Center in Las Vegas, United States on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011.

Project Homeless Connect provided over 3,000 homeless people with food, clothing, grooming, transportation, job readiness, child care and veteran services a year ago.

The project has also played a vital role in helping the homeless with housing, food, legal assistance, job training, health care and mental health and substance abuse counseling. Hundreds of volunteers are also expected to help check-in, usher aid recipients through the event and clean-up.

A census in January tallied nearly 10,000 homeless on the streets or in crowded shelters in the Las Vegas area.
