Busan West Asian Film Fest Kicks off in California

Dodge College of Film and Media Arts kicks off the three-day Busan West Asian Film Fest at Marion Knott Studios on Chapman University’s campus in Orange, California on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. Dodge College in partnership with Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will showcase Asia’s biggest film talent and feature contemporary and classic Asian films.

Busan West Asian Film Fest festival will feature Asian films selected directly from the 2011 BIFF, the largest Asian film festival in the world which takes place in Busan, South Korea. Dodge College of Film and Media Arts is one of the premiere film schools in the United States.

This year’s festival will also be rewarding Korea’s most popular writer/director Bong Joon-ho with the Busan West Icon Award. Bong Joon-ho will present his hit film The Host in 3D after the award ceremony and will hold a master class to discuss the art of writing and direction with the students on Saturday, Nov. 12.

South Korean animation feature Leafie, A Hen into the Wild from Oh Seong-yun and Filipino drama NiƱo by Loy Arcenas will also be screened. Feng Xiaogang’s Chinese drama AfterShock will close the event on Nov. 13.

Ticket for single day cost $10 for individuals and $5 for students. $25 is the charge for the opening Night Film & Reception and $100 for a weekend pass.
