EFT Report, Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan launched the first Toyota University Cricket Championship (TUCC) in Mumbai on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. TUCC is supported by the ministry of human resource development (HRD), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and NDTV.
SRK is also the brand ambassador of TUCC. The actor said he learnt everything through sports and this is one of the finest initiatives and that he would do anything to promote it.
The campaign, 'Ab Humari Baari Hai' is to encourage cricket at the university level thereby discovering, nurturing and promoting cricket talent.
The TUCC is an extension of the Rohinton Baria inter-university tournament and will get underway this year. The top eight teams from Rohinton Baria will play in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore among other cities.
The participating teams for the 2013 Championship have been selected from the four zones. They are: Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Mumbai University, Jiwaji University, University of Madras and Jain University.
