Roberto Di Matteo Sacked as Chelsea FC Coach

The inevitable has happened, Roberto Di Matteo’s reign as English club Chelsea FC coach has ended after the 3-0 thrashing they received from Juventus and leaving the Blues on the brink of a Champions League exit.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo has parted company with Chelsea. The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first-team manager, a club statement said.

Roberto Di Matteo (42) took over as manager of Chelsea FC after Andres Villas-Boas was fired in March 2011 and steered the club to double title success, winning the 2012 FA Cup and the club's first UEFA Champions League.

According to sources, owner Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is in touch with former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez to take charge on a short-term basis.
