14th Mumbai Film Festival Begins; Over 230 Films to be Screened

The 14th edition of the famous Mumbai Film Festival has kick-started in Mumbai on Oct. 18, 2012. Critically-acclaimed Hollywood comedy-drama "Silver Linings Playbook," starring Indian actor Anupam Kher, opened the festival.

Indian celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Jaya Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Sridevi and Manisha Koirala attended the star-studded opening ceremony. Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou was given the international lifetime achievement award.

The fest has a line-up of over 230 movies from around the world with a mix of classic and contemporary cinema with special event segments dedicated to French, Italian, Afghan and Indian cinema.

The gala, ending Oct. 25, will also host a special event segment to mark the centenary year of Indian cinema by screening handpicked silent films accompanied by live orchestra.
