German auto giant Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the C120LE low floor city bus in India on March 9, 2012. The C120LE city bus will be built at Mercedes-Benz’s Chakan assembly unit in Pune, Maharashtra.
The C120LE is powered by a six cylinder, turbocharged intercooled, 7.2 liter diesel engine, that pumps out a peak power of 245 Bhp and a peak torque of 950 Nm.
Currently, the city bus segment in India is dominated by the homegrown bus makers like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland. A few years ago, Swedish automaker Volvo, ventured into this segment with its city bus range debuting in Bangalore. The tech packed Volvo city buses have now become a standard part of the Bangalore cityscape after gaining a high acceptance both amongst the metropolitan transport corporation as well as commuters.
