The Himachal Pradesh government and the state-owned National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) entered into a pact to jointly set up an engineering college in the state on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
A memorandum of understanding was signed for setting up the college in Bilaspur town at the cost of Rs 100 crore.
The NTPC, which is setting up the 800 MW Kol Dam hydropower project near Bilaspur, some 120 km from Shimla, will contribute Rs 37.5 crore for the college and the construction work would start soon.
