"Thantedam Gender Fest-2012," by Social Welfare Department of Kerala, being organized to provide a platform of convergence for various activities of women and to create a discourse on gender issues, will be organized at four venues in Kozhikode, Kerala from March 8-17, 2012 in connection with International Women's Day.
District Collector Dr PB Salim said it would be an egalitarian, creative and open forum drawing women from all walks of life to share experiences and problems they face in the daily life irrespective of any social, political or economic segregation.
The gender fest promises an abundance of opportunities for women to share their fears, hopes and thoughts, showcase their skills and intellect, strengthen their solidarity and sisterhood, question patriarchal practices and voice their demands.
The festival is expected to gather over 5000 women from all sectors of society from across India.
