Singapore to Develop 150-km Leisure Tour

Singapore will develop a 150-km leisure tour around the island, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean announced on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

The route will be "a continuous coastal recreational corridor around Singapore," according to the National Parks Board. It could traverse numerous residential estates and benefit some three million people, it said.

The tour will have three segments: eco-discovery trail, coastal adventure trail and the city and heritage trail.

The route was proposed by the Urban Redevelopment Authority in 2008.

The government has said it will turn Singapore into a "City in the Garden."
