16th Conference of Tamil Nadu Teachers Association in Coimbatore on Feb. 19

The recent murder of a woman school teacher allegedly by her student in Chennai will be among the issues that will be discussed at the 16th Conference of Tamil Nadu Teachers Association (TTA), scheduled to be held in Coimbatore on February 19, 2012.

There was an urgent need to study the reasons behind young minds to indulge in such heinous crime and it was the social responsibility of parents, teachers, school management and also the administration to take steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents, TTA General Secretary, S Muthusamy, said.

Stating that the one-day conference would discuss the issue of seeking adequate protection for the teaching community in the backdrop of the incident, Muthusamy said former President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam would address the meeting and provide necessary guidelines for the teachers, while discharging their duties.
