Raipur Aiport Renamed After Swami Vivekanand

Indian union cabinet approved the renaming of the Mana Airport at Raipur as Swami Vivekanand Airport on Jan. 24, 2012 to fulfill a long-pending demand of the people of Chhattisgarh and pay homage to the renowned spiritual leader.

Swami Vivekanand spent a major part of his life in Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh. The Raipur Airport, under the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is suitable for operation of A-320 type of aircraft.

Presently Air India, Jet Airways/Jetlite and Kingfisher are operating around 85 domestic flights per week to/from Raipur.
